guys won in this. what does that mean? >> yeah. president obama is a big champion of green energy, wind power, bio and the republicans think it's a waste of taxpayer money because these forms of energy can't compete with coal and gas. well, president obama got big tax breaks for green energy. so he keeps that sector alive indefinitely. >> what about the losers here? the gop wanted spending cuts up front. how do they lose and the president, too in, this? >> yeah. the gop, their message is not resonating anymore. you know, with the younger generation the individualism and small government and low taxes does not resonate. so the gop had to cave and they had to raise taxes on some wealthy people. >> what about small business owners because both sides said hey, we're going to protect these folks. did they win or lose in this? >> most of them won. up to 98% of them will keep low tax rates, but if my math is correct, there are about 700,000 small businesses with up to 500 employees who will pay much higher taxes. so they will suffer. they will not expand. they will not hire. >> as you said, th

, the investments they make and the clean energy jobs they create. and 2 million americans who are out of work but out there looking pounding the pavement every day are going to continue to receive unemployment benefits as long as they're actively looking for a job. but i think we all recognize this law is just one step in the broader effort to strengthen our economy and broaden opportunity for everybody. the fact is the deficit is still too high. and we're still investing too little in the things that we need for the economy to grow as fast as it should. and that's why speaker boehner and i originally tried to negotiate a larger agreement that would put this country on a path that paying down its debt while also putting americans back to work, rebuilding our roads and bridges and providing investments in areas like education and job training. unfortunately there just wasn't enough support or time for that kind of large agreement in a lame duck session of congress. and that failure comes with a cost, as the messy nature of the process over the past several weeks has made business more uncertai
of what feels like here, bill. a lot of energy at the white house, a lot of curiosity surrounding this meeting. what you can't see from here and what i can't show you, unfortunately, is just about 50 yards from here is where you saw speaker boehner walking into the building, and we've got a whole cadre of white house still press photographers up on ladders peering over the hedge trying to get a picture of the leaders as they walk in and just to the left of that crowd is another crowd of reporters all gathered around the stakeout cameras. that's where the leaders could come out and talk to microphones if they wanted to say anything after this meeting. there's a lot of anticipation of whether they will say anything after this meeting, and it's widely seen that this would be a good sign for negotiations if they do come out and talk. a lot of previous white house meetings, they have not come out to say anything afterwards, so all those folks waiting over there might be waiting in vain here at this point, but at this point we know most of the major leaders are in the building, and we'l
